Cronus Zen Quick Start: Setup and First Script
Get your Cronus Zen ready for your preferred console in three steps: open Zen Studio Live, update its firmware, and choose the correct controller setup.
Step 1: Open Zen Studio Live
Navigate to Zen Studio Live in Chrome or Edge. The browser-based app manages controllers, mouse and keyboard input, scripts, and advanced Zen options without installing the deprecated desktop application.
- Open Zen Studio Live in Chrome or Edge and follow the browser prompt to connect your device.
- Connect the Zen to your computer through the right-side PROG port using a data-capable USB cable.
- When Zen Studio Live recognises the device, confirm that its library and device details are visible.
- Use the web app to manage scripts and settings; do not follow older instructions that require the Windows desktop download.
- Disconnect the PROG cable when this stage is finished, then prepare the Zen for its firmware update.
Step 2: Update firmware
Install the newest firmware before using your Zen for the first time.
- Press and continue holding the blue reset button underneath the Zen.
- While holding the button, connect the rear CONSOLE/PC USB-C port to your computer.
- Release the button when the OLED display reads Zen Bootloader.
- Open the official firmware updater in Chrome or Edge.
- Select Connect, choose Cronus ZEN in the device prompt, and select Connect once more.
- Choose Latest and allow roughly 20 seconds for the update to finish.
Step 3: Choose your controller setup
Use this table to identify the available connection methods. Bluetooth on DualSense models omits Adaptive Triggers, rumble, gyroscope, and microphone features; wireless Xbox controllers require the official Xbox Wireless Adapter.

If Zen Studio Live says Device Not Connected
A faulty or charge-only USB cable is usually responsible. Try a known-good data-sync cable before changing software settings.
The Cronus Web Update Tool also works in Chrome or Edge on Windows, macOS, and Android; Android devices need USB OTG support.
What to do after the initial setup
Once the firmware is current and your controller method is confirmed, open the script library for the game you play. Start with one script and its default values so you can confirm the complete controller-to-Zen connection before making adjustments.
Program the selected script to a Zen memory slot, disconnect the PROG cable, and connect the rear CONSOLE/PC port to the system you intend to play on. If input fails at this stage, return to the cable and port checks before changing script values.

Should the PROG cable stay plugged in while playing?
