How to Connect a Wireless Controller to Cronus Zen
Pair PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo controllers with Cronus Zen using the correct Bluetooth or wireless adapter connection.
Wireless controller support depends on the controller family. Choose the method below, then test ordinary inputs before selecting a script. Pairing the controller does not replace the console’s authentication requirements.
Choose the correct wireless method
Check the exact controller model before starting. A controller being wireless does not automatically make it compatible with the Zen’s Bluetooth connection.
| Controller | Wireless method | Before pairing |
|---|---|---|
| DualSense / DualSense Edge | Supported Bluetooth connection with feature limitations | Charge it and confirm the console-specific setup. |
| DualShock 4 | Bluetooth | Turn it off before starting the pairing combination. |
| Supported Xbox One / Series controllers | Xbox Wireless Adapter in A3 | Have a data cable ready for the A2 pairing step. |
| Switch Pro Controller | Bluetooth | Locate its SYNC button. |
| Joy-Con | Bluetooth, each side separately | Keep both controllers charged and available. |
Pair a DualSense or DualShock 4
Keep the controller close to the Zen and prevent it from reconnecting to another nearby device.
- Turn the controller off, then press the Zen’s P2 Bluetooth pairing button. The Zen LEDs flash blue.
- For DualSense, hold Create + PS until its light starts flashing. For DualShock 4, hold Share + PS.
- Wait for the pairing indicators to stop flashing and become solid blue.
- Test the sticks and buttons. If pairing does not finish, turn the controller off and repeat P2 followed by the controller button combination.
Pair an Xbox controller with the wireless adapter
Xbox wireless through the Zen requires the compatible adapter. Pressing P2 or using a generic Bluetooth dongle will not substitute for it.
- Insert the Xbox Wireless Adapter into A3.
- Connect the supported Xbox controller to A2 using a USB data cable.
- Wait a few seconds for the wired connection, then disconnect the controller cable from A2.
- Allow the adapter to finish pairing. Its status light should stop flashing and stay solid white.
- Test input. If the adapter keeps flashing, check the controller battery and repeat with another data cable.
Pair a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
Use the controller’s SYNC button rather than repeatedly pressing Home.
- Press P2 on the Zen to start Bluetooth pairing.
- Hold SYNC on the Pro Controller until its player indicators flash.
- Wait until the indicators stop flashing and remain lit, then test movement and buttons.
Pair the left and right Joy-Con
Each Joy-Con has its own wireless connection. Connecting one side does not pair the other automatically.
- For a Switch setup, select Nintendo Switch output and connect the Zen to the powered dock. Follow the console’s wired-controller communication requirements.
- Press P2 on the Zen until the pairing lights flash.
- Hold SYNC on the left Joy-Con until its player indicators flash, then wait for the pairing feedback.
- Repeat the SYNC step for the right Joy-Con. If discovery has stopped, re-enter pairing mode before retrying.
- Test left-side movement and right-side buttons separately before launching a game.
Keep the required authentication connection
Leave the required authentication device connected while pairing. If the controller pairs but cannot operate the console, check the console authentication and port requirements. For PS5 Native Mode, complete the Zen Link setup first.
Features that may be unavailable wirelessly
The current controller compatibility matrix lists limitations for DualSense Bluetooth, including adaptive triggers, rumble, gyroscope and microphone functionality. Use the supported USB setup when those features matter.
Controller-jack audio is unavailable through a Bluetooth connection to the Zen. See the headset connection options if buttons work but your headset is silent.
Reconnect after pairing is lost
First charge the controller, power the Zen normally and turn the controller on. If it reconnects, check input without starting a new pairing cycle. If it connects to another device instead, turn that device’s controller connection off for the test.
If pairing must be repeated, use the same controller-family procedure above. Keep the adapter in A3 for Xbox. Change only one part of the setup at a time so a battery problem is not mistaken for lost pairing. The official wireless setup reference covers model-specific variations.
FAQ
No. Supported Xbox One and Series wireless setups use the Xbox Wireless Adapter.
Pair the left and right controllers separately, then test inputs from each side.
Those features have separate compatibility requirements. Wireless input can work even when advanced controller features or controller-jack audio are unavailable.
