How to Connect Cronus Zen to a PC

Connect Cronus Zen to a Windows gaming PC and fix common controller detection, cable, and USB-port problems.

Applies to: Windows PC, Cronus Zen, Wired controllers, Zen Studio Live

PC connection overview

A correctly configured PC normally recognises Cronus Zen as an Xbox-style controller. Zen Studio Live uses the PROG connection for settings, while games use the rear CONSOLE/PC connection.

For PC play, connect the controller to A1 and the Zen's rear CONSOLE/PC port directly to the computer.

Connect Cronus Zen to PC

  1. Use the PROG port only while changing device settings in Zen Studio Live.
  2. Save the settings and disconnect the PROG cable.
  3. Connect the rear CONSOLE/PC port directly to the gaming computer.
  4. Connect the controller to A1 and wait for Windows to recognise the input device.

Keep the PROG cable unplugged while playing

The PROG connection exposes the Zen's programming interface and may be detected by anti-cheat software. Keep the PROG cable completely unplugged for the entire play session and use only the rear CONSOLE/PC connection for gameplay.

Disconnecting PROG removes that avoidable detection signal, but it does not guarantee that a game will permit the device. Always follow the game's rules and enforcement policies.

Test the controller in Windows

Before opening a game, use Windows controller settings to confirm buttons and analogue sticks register. This separates a Windows or cable problem from a game-specific input setting.

Avoid USB hubs during initial testing. If the controller receives power but Windows sees no input, replace the controller cable with a known data-sync cable.

If a PC game does not detect the Zen

  1. Close other controller remapping software while testing.
  2. Reconnect the Zen before launching the game.
  3. Try another direct USB port on the computer.
  4. Check the game's controller and input settings, because support varies between games and launchers.
